What the customer sees
Quote from your business TOTAL: £0 This price holds for 14 days. Happy with that? Reply YES and I'll book you in.
£0
no VAT applied
Nothing you type here is sent to us or stored — the quote is built on your phone and goes straight into your own WhatsApp or Messages app.
Won the job? Good. Now the harder problem.
While you were quoting that one, someone else rang and got no answer. TradeRing answers those calls in your business name, qualifies the job and texts you the details.

Cover these six things and you will almost never have an argument about money at the end of a job.
- Your business name and how the customer contacts you
- A plain description of the work, in the customer's words as well as yours
- Itemised prices, so they can see labour and materials rather than one lump sum
- Whether VAT is included, and your VAT number if you are registered
- What is not included — making good, skip hire, scaffold, decorating after
- How long the price is valid, and when you can start
Quote or estimate — get the word right
A quote is a fixed price. Once the customer accepts it, that is what the job costs unless the work itself changes. An estimate is your best guess and can move, but only within reason and only if you tell them before the extra work happens.
If there are genuine unknowns — pipework behind a wall, joists you have not seen, a roof you have only looked at from the ground — say so in writing: "This price assumes the timbers are sound. If they are not, I will ring you with a price before I do anything extra."
That one sentence saves more money and goodwill than any other line in a quote.
Why the three-day quote loses
The usual pattern is that you look at a job on Tuesday, get home shattered, and mean to write it up. By the time the PDF goes out on Friday, someone else has already quoted, been accepted and booked the work in.
Speed is not about being cheap. A clear price sent while you are still standing on their drive makes you look organised, and organised is what people are actually buying.
Send it before you get in the van. That is the whole trick.
Quote generator questions
Is this quote generator free?
Yes. There is no signup, no account and no limit on how many quotes you send. The quote is built in your browser and handed to your own WhatsApp or Messages app.
Is anything I type stored?
No. Nothing you enter is sent to TradeRing or saved anywhere. Close the tab and it is gone, which is why you should send the quote before you leave the page.
Is a WhatsApp quote legally binding?
A quote sent by message can form a contract in the same way as one sent on paper, so write it as carefully. State what is included, what is excluded, whether VAT applies and how long the price holds. A quote is a fixed price; an estimate is not, so use the right word.
Should I send a quote or an estimate?
Send a quote when you have seen the work and know what it involves. Send an estimate, clearly labelled as such, when there are unknowns behind a wall or under a floor. Never call a guess a quote.
Do I need to add VAT?
Only if you are VAT registered. If you are, tick the VAT box so the customer sees the subtotal, the VAT and the total separately — surprises at invoice stage are where disputes start.
Why does sending fast matter so much?
Most homeowners contact two or three trades and go with whoever replies first with something clear. A quote sent from the driveway beats a PDF that arrives on Thursday night.
